Stairstep Halloween card with October31 and Pumpkin Carving

I was camping this week and took along my "to make for Christmas" pile to start planing (yes, I know, its still summer) and I came across a stair step card.  It instantly made me think of the images on the October31 cart (which I had yet to use), so I came home and made a card.  I've made a little video (practice, practice) for those who like to see the step by step, and I've put the DS file below.  You don't need DS to make stair step cards, but I wanted the gate to fit just right, so I had to tweek it a bit.   The starting base is 4.25 by 7.5 inches and scored at  1, 2, 3.25, 4.5, and 6 inch (NOT 5 like I say in the video).  Thanks for looking!

the COOL tub scrap page

This is an 8x8 page, but the proportions for the sketch are for two 3x6 photos.  The frame is from Lacy Labels(cut at 6.5 inch), the sun if from doodlecharms ( cut at 2 inch, theres one I haven't used in a while!), the flourish is from Cindy Loo (one inch), and the sunglasses are from PaperDolls.  The papers are all Stampin' UP!  The journaling I did on the computer, printed on cardstock, then cut into strips.  The fonts for the title are HOBO std (free) and CAC Pinafore (I paid for that one, but it was worth it!).

Last year our hot tub heater went out at the start of summer, but we didn't fix it until close to fall.  So all summer the boys had the "cool tub" as they called it, to play in.  This year it works fine, but they asked us to turn it way down so they could again have it for the summer.

Just a quick card and label svg share

Here is a quick stack of cards I made for my mom for her "church ladies", the stamps are Stampin up (Inspired by Nature).  The tag was done in inkscape/SCAL and is below, it is label 7.  There is a label 6 too, no example but thought I throw it in anyway, just because I hate to give things away out of order.  Thanks for looking.

Pumpkin Carving glass block tutorial

Here is my second video.  My video skills still need some work, so bare with me.  I tried to edit out the boring parts so the video wouldn't be too long, just couldn't figure that out so the video is 9 minutes - total project time.

One thing I did wrong with this block, I made the lights come out of the top.  With my Christmas ones I had them coming out of the bottom, which I liked better.  Its just personal preference but something to decide before putting the vinyl on.  Also, I normally use 3,3,6 as my settings and the vinyl cuts but backing stays in tact -however I had it on 3,4,6 for the video, oops, which is why it cut all the way though.

Do you like House Mouse?

I love house mouse stamps and I have several, but I'm too lazy to color them so  I rarely use them.  Recently my mom and I signed up for house mouse mailing list and for the daily squ-eek.  Each day they send you an image (available also as a stamp) but its already colored.  You also get product info when new things come out and coupons.  The images are low resolution but if you print them out at actual stamp size, they look great.  These are two I got recently.  I printed them on cardstock and then treated them just as a stamped image.  For the top one, the flower was a little more purple than I wanted so I went over it a bit with a pink prisma coloring pencil (I love those) so that it matched the paper I wanted to use (from the DCWV sweet stack).    If you love house mouse, you might want to sign up for the daily squ-eek, the link is:

On a side note, last night we had a bbq at dinner, then 3 hours later I started smelling smoke.  I had just been looking out in the cul-de-sac trying to figure out who was burning in the high wind (the fire station is literally across the street from my back gate and they'll get on you if your burning in wind) when my DH got a call from work.  As he walked around the corner to answer the phone he saw flames out back.  It only did a little damage, but it sure scared me.  I sent the kids to stay at Grandmas for the night just in case there is a flair up (and I considered sending my stamps and cricut too, lol) and then was up until late checking on it. Very scary, with the gusts and the size of the flames, we were very luck it was caught in time.  That lattice did go all the way across, and that was an igloo dog house (we don't have a dog, I was just saving it because we though we might be getting one soon), and a watering can.  No more bbqs anywhere near bark dust. 

Simple masculine card share with duck and grass svg freebie

My uncle has been sick and I need to make a stack of cards for him.  I have such a hard time making masculine cards.  I asked my hubby and he said it should be simple, no flowers, well, how about a duck and some cattails?  So here is my first simple one for him, the svg is below.  I cut mine from all glossy white, then brayered on the colors.  The wood stamp is SU.  If you don't have scal, there is a duck on campout and some grass on create-a-critter, or pooh.  Thanks for looking!

Hybrid camping scrap page using Camp Out

I've had Camp out forever, it was one of my first carts, but for some reason I have never used it. It has a lot of nice images for masculine cards so maybe I'll have to make an effort to get it out more. This is a hybrid page, the pine cones are from Camp out, font is Copper Black, green is SU always artichoke, although it scanned a lot lighter than real life. The tree "paper" is a real photo of the tree at our camp site and the frame collage is from DesignerDigitals. Final size is 8x8. Thanks for looking!

Rolling Rose SVG and Tutorial

My mother got me a flip for Christmas so I could do videos for my blog. Here it is 6 months later and I'm still not sure how to do it. I thought it was time to give it a try though, so here is my first attempt at a video tutorial. This is to make those cute little rolling roses, similar to the sizzix one, although I spaced my curves a bit different so the center drops in. The SVG will be down below if its not already. If you can't see the video, please check back, I'm electronically challenged and this might take a few tries to work out.....
