I have 4 other scrap pages I'm working on that I can seem to get done, so I decided to take a break and do a new one with these super cute photos I took over the weekend.  The paper/labels are Stampin Up and the title is done in Happy Days font.  The layout I scraplifted from a Memory Makers magazine.  Thanks for looking!

Matchbook Calendars for 2011

I have had a couple requests today for 2011 matchbook calendars, just so happens that I have been working on that very thing!  I've done these for a couple years, you can find my original post and instruction for doing a hodgepodge way HERE  For this year, I'm making a quick project even quicker by using staples.  I've included very faint lines on the calendar template for cutting, the final size of the calendar will be 2 by 2.5 inches.  So here is my new quickie method: 

Print PDF and cut on lines, stack calendar.

Cut cardstock or double sided paper to 5 1/2 by 2 1/2 inches, score at 1/2 inch

Put calender into 1/2 inch pocket and staple at about 1/4 inch 

Fold over top so that it catches in the lip, then crease the end

Now, you may be asking, why not just score the second fold....well, every time I try I end up with it too short to catch in the lip, or too long so that it buckles.  Apparently I am score-challenged and this is the best way to insure (at least for me) that it gets creased in the right spot.  The owl is cut from Straight from the nest at 1.5 inches, stamps are Stampin Up.  Thanks for looking and for taking the time to comment, file for calender is below.

Pumpkin Carving paper lanterns with DS cut file

You can't help but look at the images from pumpkin carvings and see paper lantern possibilities.  The square images are perfect for simply welding together.  But of course, I wanted to make some out of the circle images which is a bit more work- but not much.  Here's the step by step: 

Download and cut the lantern base with DS and Plantain Schoolbook (see link below), I cut mine out of a Debbie Mumm 12x12 patterned paper

Score at 5 and 10 inches

Attach squares of vellum (about 4.25 by 4.25) to back side

Attach tabs of piece one to opposite side of piece two.

Cut your choice of circle images from Pumpkin carvings at 4 inches and glue over vellum.

Insert FAKE candle

Now what if you don't want to weld the square images together?  Well, your in luck, I've included a square lantern base on the same file (page 2).  Follow the exact same instructions but use square images from the pumpkin carving cartridge (still cutting at 4 inch).

FYI: Costco now has the pack of fake candles, 30 candles plus 30 extra batteries for $20, great buy!

With all these, I'm sure my kids will want to make lots.  And whats great is that I can make the bases for them to finish and they can choose 4 different images for each one (there so many cute ones, who could pick just one?).  Of course if you don't have pumpkin carvings, any shape welded into a 4 inch circle or square frame will do!  Thanks for looking and for taking the time to comment!

Tea and Tissue Get Well Gift Pack

I saw one of these on the internet that was done last year and thought it was so cute.  I can't seem to find a blog for her but her how to video is HERE. She used a full sheet of cardstock (which I am stingy with), and involved some scoring and measuring (neither of which I am great with), so I made a quickie/less paper version of her project.  Thanks for looking.

What we love about FALL mini album

I have made several of these mini albums for gifts, but never one for myself.  I made this over the weekend to put on my mantle.  The maple leaf is from straight from the nest, the corn is from Paper Dolls, and the spooky frame is from Happy Hauntings, everything else was just leftovers in my stash.  The last page I left blank because I wanted it to be a Thanksgiving page, but I can't seem to find any family photos, so I guess it will have to wait until this years gathering.  I'm attaching the file, it includes bases on a separate pages in case you want to do chipboard as multicut (I just ended up doing heavy textured cardstock).  This was done using Design Studio and Plantin Schoolbook (so even if you only have the trial version you should still be able to cut it. Thanks for looking!

Quick Halloween cards with Pumpkin Carving

Here's a quick card to make with Pumpkin Carving. 

Start with 5 1/2 by 8 1/2 card base, fold in half,

add 1 1/2 x 5 1/2 inch strip patterned paper

wrap ribbon to meet on front

cut "boo" at 1 3/4 inch, mat on 2 inch square (I used pop dots)

adhere over ribbon

cut several pumpkin faces at 1 1/2 to 2 inches from white, toss the cuts, but keep the eyes and adhere to black background.

So, I know this is a cheep cartridge, only $18, but WHY couldn't they have included black out and shadow???? There are only two shapes, a circle and a square, how hard could that be?.  Instead you have to use a circle punch or get out a different cart, sheesh.

My boys and I also made the haunted house from happy haunting's this week.  It was a trial run, but it went pretty well.  The instructions are a bit intimidating, but it wasn't as bad as I thought.  We used black cardstock and then vellum for the windows.  My one tip, put the windows in as you take them off your mat.  They are in a logical order, but once you (or your 7 year old) takes them off the mat, it is not fun to figure out which window goes where.  Its hard to see in the dark photo, but with the light on, it looks really cool in real life.
