Mothers Day Gate Cricut Card

Here is another one I found in Papercrafts Magazine...have I mentioned that I LOVE that magaizine? This was from a year or so ago, they had a fancier version, I tend to keep it simple so here's my take on it. If you'd like the cut file, its down below. Its all George...or if you have inkscape I have the svg. I just printed out the Mothers Day verse and Mom for sign. If you'd like that I have it in an pdf, so you can just leave a comment.

Slice of Cake card cut and svg

I'm HOME!!!!! Vacation is nice, but its so nice to get home. I walked through the door and went right to my craft room just to sit for a moment.....ahhh. I love my craft room.

How about a cake card? I saw this in an old Papercrafts magazine (I'm going through all my old PC magazines in an effort to downsize my collection of old magazines, taking out the good pages and getting rid of the rest- this was a keeper!) Its a very simple cut, but very versatile. The bottom half of the cake opens, decorate the top any way you choose. The candle and flower are from different cut files - The file is just the card base and the "cake" it is all George. Ummmm, cake. I have both the .cut and .svg available below. Enjoy!

Spring Cow - Cow Print SVG

I love cows. I'd really like to have some, but hubby says no. Here is my favorite cow stamp-its a Penny Black Spring cow. I don't have a cow print stamp so I thougt I'd make a cow print svg. You can cut it out of black and put the dots on your paper, or cut out of white and then just lay it over black (thats what I did). I made this 5x5 then cut down to card size-of couse its an svg so you can make it any size. Very simple, but I thought I'd throw it out there anyway.
Happy Easter!

FLY - Scrapbook layout with Pooh Cartridge

Who doesn't love to fly kites? I remember when I was little helping my brother wash his car, in return he took me to the local 5-n-dime store to bought me a kite (and an ice cream cone). I still remember what the kite looked like (and even the flavor of ice cream!). Since then, to me that sound of the kite in the wind gives me a warm fuzzy feeling, and tells me that spring is here.

At the first sign of sun and wind I took the boys kite flying. We didn't have very good luck keeping them up, good thing uncle Bob was there to help us or we wouldn't have got them up at all. It was a short session, but still wonderful.

This is a hybrid page, I did the photos to size in PSE6. For the kite photo I laid a cropped version of the photo over the top of the same photo, then did a stroke and changed the blending mode. The result was a frame within the photo itself. Then I did the journaling in white right on the photo. It was a fun technique I read about in Digital Scrapbooking 3 -a great magazine! The other papers are from Stampin UP, the kite is cut from my new pooh cartridge and the font is Dophins (free, SCAL). Thanks for looking.

Easter Bunny 6-Pack

I love the little Easter Baskets, but they won't really hold enough for a family and I'm just plain to lazy to make one for every kid in the neighborhood. So this is my alternative, the Easter Bunny 6-pack. I saw something similar last year on Papertray, except they had a lid on the box instead of a handle. This holds 6 plastic eggs-enough for a whole family, yet just as quick as an individual basket to make (and easier on the pocket book then making everyone a basket). To decorate mine I just used 3 - 3/4 inch strips of 12 inch patterned paper, some punched flowers, and some home-made dew drops (hot glue gun drops). Pattern is below, It is all George and uses one 12 x 12 for basket/handle, one sheet of reg paper for insert, and whatever for accents. Enjoy!

Design Studio Problems

I had some major DS problems the past couple days. I have had this program a long time and never had problems before, but yesterday and over the weekend it just kept closing on me and losing my files. I went to the board for help and found several others complaining of the same type of issues-all recent. I'm thinking that with the new software coming out, they have this one set to self destruct. Then we all have to buy the new one, pretty cleaver! In the mean time I finally finished my file (which I will post later today) by following some tips from other users. I wanted to pass them on so others might avoid the pain and suffering associated with loosing a file.

1: Never save at 200% zoom -switch back to normal view first -pretty sure this is the one that did it for me

2: Never make your slits or tick marks smaller than .1 inch (now I know I've done this before with no problems, why its a problem now I don't know, but Carla said so and she knows her DS)

3: When in doubt, hit the "save as" and rename as a version, rather than the save button. I was saving my project as I went along, but when it crased it wiped it out - and it wouldn't go back to the last save. You just don't know when you will get that message, so have a backup version.

Ready to see my project? Its coming soon.....

More Easter Baskets

Here are some Easter baskets that I did over the weekend. The file contains 4 pages:
Scalloped basket (george and Storybook)
Plain basket (george only)
Plain basket accents ( peices for going over the handle and flaps)
Handle (george, fits both baskets)

For mine I used a double sided paper for the scalloped basket - which is by far the easier. For the blue basket, I cut it in white then just cut squares for the sides (2.5 x 3 inches) and stamped on the white. They are fairly quick and simple, but a good size for a few goodies.
Thanks for looking, have a great day!

Another Punch set

This is the second set I got, curly lable punch set from Stampin Up! The paper is again from the Washington Apple paper collection and the flowers are from my new Pooh cartridge, cut at 4 inches. To make the curly lable frame, I used one of the stamps colored with a marker (I just didn't color the thank-you part) then added a verse from another stamp set.

NEW TOYS!

I have bought a few new, very fun items this past week so I thoughts I'd show them off! Here is a new punch and stamp set out from Stampin Up! Its called Oval Alls and goes with the new oval scallop punch. I tried to give up my punches for a while because I can cut all those shapes with my cricut, right? Problem is I can seem to stamp straight (even with a stamp-a-majig) so for words I love to stamp then punch, and I especially like stamps that coordinate with a punch -so I had to have this new set. Thats new paper and new ribbon too, also from Stampin Up! Fun stuff! But wait, there's more....but first I have to feed the kids:)
