Wow, I looked at my blog last night and realized it had been a month since I had done any crafting. I've actually spent the last month cleaning my craft room and weeding through the "need" and "might need someday" stuff. I can almost see the shelves again and I actually have some empty drawers (soon to be filled with Kindergarden homeschooling supplies). I decided to take advantage of the clean spot on the counter to make a card for mom -hopefully she's not reading this! I love frogs so I made this little one on my cricut. I used George (frog, flowers) and doodlecharms (basket ). I will attach the .cut file below. Final card size is 4.5 by 6.5. Some of the flowers were punched with regular punches (I'm trying to decided if I need to keep them or if they can be weeded out too). It helps to fut the basket on mounting foam/pop dots so that the frog and flowers can slip below. I used a bit of raffia for the tie, googlie eyes for the eyes, stickles for the centers of the flowers and small flower eyelets from SU. The coloring on the frog is just chalking and the mouth/nose was done with pencil. Have a Hoppy Day!

Cricut borders and decorative scissors

I love the look of decorative scissors but I can never use them right. I guess I can't cut a straight line. I was in Joanns the other day and saw a package of precut borders, and thought...I can do that! I started with some that match scissors I like (using GEORGE cartridge), then my new Home Accents cartridge came and filled in the rest of the page! I've put each one at a different "inch" so that you can just lay down a one by 12 inch strip of the paper you wish to cut. Some of them go over the edge of the cut zone, I wanted to make them as long as possible so that I can use them whole for scrapbook pages or cut them down for cards. Pretty cool huh? My file is below. I also have 2 cards below that have borders on them from this file (next posts down)
Birthday Cake from Design Software

I realize I don't have a cartridge with a birthday cake...no worries, I made one! Gotta love that design software! The border is from my borders.cut file, more on that later today! I used stickles to dress it up and Cuttlebug embossing folder for the lower portion of the card.
If you need a cake, please feel free to use mine :) Thanks for looking!

First fish!

This weekend was opening day for fishing at the local lakes. Carl and I were set to take the kids when Uncle Bob decided to join us, good thing because he's the only one that really knew how to catch a fish! He helped each of the boys get one they could reel in. Carstens jumped off the line at the shore, he had trouble as his right hand is still in a cast. Andy got his all the way in so at least we were able to have one fish with dinner. They were both so excitted and proud of that fish. I can't wait to take them again, and I couldn't wait to get home to scrap the photos. This page is completely digital, I think everything on it was free from the web (Scrapgirls, Digital Scrapbook Place, Oscraps, and sugarplumpaperie), it was done on PE6.

Cricut Paper Dolls Pirate Name Frames

My boys love all the pirate stuff on Cricut paper dolls cart so I decided to use it to make name frames for their room. Frames were from Micheals, they came already matted for the great price of $3 each. I used regular scrapbook paper for the backgrounds, Carsten is "parchment" and Andys is a map (CTMH). Most items were cut at 3 inches. The fonts were not done with the cricut, I used SCAL for Carstens and for Andys I just used PE6. I used sandpaper on the edges and small rope on Andys, no I wish I would have done that with Carstens, but oh well.....They were fairly quick to make and the boys love them, I let them pick out colors and what kind of things from the cartridge would go on each frame - getting a decisions out of two 4 year olds does take some work, but it was a team effort that all and all went pretty good. Thanks for looking.
The font on Andy's is Pieces of Eight, it is free on dafont.com
